A wonderful companion to an introductory EJB book which covers best practice programming tips.

Another excellent introduction to EJB.  A little more thorough than Ed Roman's book and with a stronger focus on EJB alone; it does not have any of the appendices that "Mastering EJB" has on related topics.

The book cover says: " look at the good, the bad and the ugly aspects of J2EE development" and that pretty much describes it.  It's excellent companion reading to any of the EJB books mentioned above, although it is not restricted to EJB. It discusses J2EE more from an architectural point of view.
JDO - Java Data Objects

Moderately recommendable.  It does not provide much information beyond the JDO specification.
